On April 12-13, the Safe Mobility for life coalition hosted it’s annual Spring Meeting which took place at FDOT’s Central Office Burns Building. The meeting focused on data gathered throughout the state on the impacts aging road users have on other road users. As we age, we experience a steady decline in certain skills that are important for safe driving. Beginning at around age 55, there is a gradual decrease in ability to process information, to remember, and to make judgments in traffic situations such as determining the necessary distance and approach of oncoming traffic increasing fatality and serious injury rates within the state of Florida. Various Partner agencies and Community Traffic Safety Coordinators came out to brainstorm on how to address and solve the problems we are currently facing statewide.
