Distracted Driving Campaign

Put it Down: The Put it Down campaign, initiated by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), aims to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and promote responsible behaviors among drivers. This campaign targets the increasing problem of distracted driving, fueled by the use of handheld communication devices and advancing technologies. Running annually from January through March in District Six, covering Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, the campaign seeks to reduce distracted driving incidents and increase understanding of Florida's texting and driving laws. Through educational materials, public service announcements, and outreach programs, the campaign educates drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists about safe driving practices. FDOT underscores the importance of staying alert, following traffic laws, and respecting fellow road users to help achieve the overarching goal of reducing traffic crashes and fatalities statewide.
