Ride Smart Florida

Ride Smart Florida is the communication and outreach extension of the Florida Motorcycle Safety Coalition, a group of safety partners from around the state who share the common goal of reducing fatalities of motorcycle riders and their passengers. Ride Smart Florida uses data-driven research to develop, implement and evaluate counter measures and works with safety partners around the state to reduce fatalities and serious injuries to motorcycle riders and their passengers.

Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow

The Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow campaign, led by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), focuses on promoting safe driving practices and reducing traffic fatalities in Florida. This initiative raises awareness about traffic safety issues and encourages responsible behaviors on the road, particularly in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The campaign aims to decrease distracted driving, boost seatbelt usage, deter impaired driving, and enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety. By employing educational materials, public service announcements, and outreach programs, the campaign educates drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists. FDOT underscores the importance of staying alert while driving, adhering to traffic laws, and respecting fellow road users to help achieve the overarching goal of reducing traffic crashes and fatalities statewide. The campaign runs annually from July through September.

Introducing Drive Safe Florida – an initiative spearheaded by the Florida Department of Transportation District Six, dedicated to fostering safer roads and curbing incidents of aggressive driving. With the launch of the “Drive Safe” campaign, motorists are urged to embrace kindness and consideration while navigating the highways. Through a series of educational efforts and outreach programs, Drive Safe Florida aims to cultivate a culture of respect and empathy among drivers, ultimately promoting a safer and more harmonious driving environment for all.

Put it Down

Put it Down -Its the Law

Put it Down: The Put it Down campaign, initiated by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), aims to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and promote responsible behaviors among drivers. This campaign targets the increasing problem of distracted driving, fueled by the use of handheld communication devices and advancing technologies. Running annually from January through March in District Six, covering Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, the campaign seeks to reduce distracted driving incidents and increase understanding of Florida’s texting and driving laws. Through educational materials, public service announcements, and outreach programs, the campaign educates drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists about safe driving practices. FDOT underscores the importance of staying alert, following traffic laws, and respecting fellow road users to help achieve the overarching goal of reducing traffic crashes and fatalities statewide.

Operation S.T.R.I.D.E.

Operation STRIDE (Statewide Traffic and Railroad Initiative using Dynamic Envelopes) was established by FDOT in December 2019 and includes engineering countermeasures, education, and enforcement efforts to provide a comprehensive strategy to prevent fatalities. A Dynamic Envelope is an area near railroad crossings designed to keep motorists out of the danger zone. White connecting X’s are used to visually highlight the zone at railroad crossings that drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians should not stop to increase safety for motorists.
