If any vehicle is detected to be driving the wrong way triggers the system which immediately flashes alert signals and sends notifications alerts to authorities. Drivers are expected to react to flashing alerts and may self-correct if paying attention. If the driver does indeed continue past the alert signals, a predetermined message is displayed on dynamic over-head message boards on the highway being entered to warn right-of-way drivers while authorities pursue the vehicle.
